The GTA 6 Vice City Collection, announced by Rockstar on September 24, is a $399.99 collector's box of 11 Leonida-themed items, and the game itself is not inside it. That single line on the Rockstar Store page has shaped most of the conversation since. Here is what Rockstar has actually confirmed, how the first week of pre-orders has gone, and what is still unclear with 49 days left on our GTA 6 countdown timer.
What Rockstar Announced
Rockstar posted the news on its Newswire on September 24 under the headline "Pre-Order The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection Now While Supplies Last." It describes a limited-edition Collector's Box inspired by Macca the Gator, a TV show that exists inside the world of Leonida.
Rockstar also said more apparel and collectibles from the Grand Theft Auto VI Collection are coming to its store soon. Details on how to pre-order the box across Asia, Latin America and Australia were promised separately.
What's Inside the GTA 6 Vice City Collection
Rockstar's announcement names the headline pieces. The full list of 11 comes from the Rockstar Store listing, as reported by outlets including Press Start and VideoCardz.
- 6-inch Macca the Gator figure with a stash compartment
- GTAVI Oakley Frogskins sunglasses in matte black with Prizm Sapphire lenses
- New Era 9FORTY A-Frame snapback with Vice City Leonida embellishments
- Macca the Gator magnetic mirror
- Vice City swizzle spoon and razor blade keychain
- Leonida Keys crossbody bag and enamel pin set in a metal tin
- Chunkee the Manatee shot glass
- Premium stickers in a stash bag, plus a double-sided souvenir poster showing the Leonida map
Two of those are real-world brand collaborations, Oakley and New Era, which is unusual for a Rockstar product and goes some way toward explaining the price.
A Collector's Box, Not a Collector's Edition
The name is where the confusion starts. "Vice City Collection" sounds like a tier of the game, but Rockstar calls it a Collector's Box and states that the game is sold separately. It does not unlock anything in GTA 6 and does not include a copy.
For comparison, the two ways to buy the game itself are unchanged:
- Standard Edition: $79.99
- Ultimate Edition: $99.99
- Vice City Collection: $399.99, no game
Anyone who wants both the box and the game is buying two products. Our GTA 6 pre-order guide covers the game editions in detail.
What this means for our earlier collector's edition warning
We previously reported that no collector's edition of the game exists, and that remains true: no boxed game edition with a figure or steelbook has been announced. The Vice City Collection is a merchandise set, and counterfeit "collector's edition" listings are still worth avoiding. Our collector's edition scam warning now carries an update note pointing here.
Price, Shipping and Where to Buy
At $399.99 for 11 items, the box works out to roughly $36 per item before shipping. The Rockstar Store lists it as not eligible for free shipping, so the checkout total will be higher.
Rockstar says the box arrives on November 19, so it is a launch-day product rather than something to expect before then. The announcement does not give regional delivery times, so check the estimate at checkout.
In the US, the Rockstar Store is the official place to order. Regional arrangements differ: Press Start reports that Rockstar confirmed separate Australian pre-orders, and that retailers there are handling them. Any listing outside those channels is a resale.
How the First Week Played Out
The reveal itself had a head start. Listings for the box and other unannounced store items surfaced through the Rockstar Store earlier on September 24, and Notebookcheck updated its coverage once Rockstar made the announcement official later that day. Until then, even the Vice City Collection's contents were unconfirmed.
Demand has been uneven. TheGamer reported that, 24 hours after launch, the box was still in stock on both the US and UK Rockstar Stores, and described the response under Rockstar's announcement as largely critical of the price. That is a sharp contrast with our report on the GTA 6 DualSense controllers selling out within a day.
Australia went the other way. Press Start reported on September 28 that EB Games listed the collection at A$699.95 and that it sold out almost instantly. JB Hi-Fi said it would run a ballot for its Perks members. Those are retailer-level events, and Rockstar has not published sales figures for any region.
Why It Matters Ahead of Launch
The Vice City Collection is the latest in a steady run of official launch-month releases. In September alone Rockstar has put out limited-edition DualSense controllers, a 34-track soundtrack album and a cover story with Game Informer, which we covered in our Game Informer breakdown.
With launch 49 days away, the Newswire has moved from teasing the game to selling the products around it: the album, the controllers and now this box. Rockstar has not said what comes next beyond the extra apparel and collectibles it mentioned.
For fans, the practical point is simple: the box is optional, the game is the same price it was yesterday, and Rockstar has said more merchandise is on the way. Our Rockstar news section tracks each Newswire post as it lands.
What Is Still Unclear
- Whether there is a per-customer purchase limit. Rockstar's announcement says only "while supplies last."
- How and when pre-orders open in Asia and Latin America, and Australia beyond the retailer listings above.
- What the additional apparel and collectibles will be, and when they arrive.
- Whether the box will be restocked if it sells out.
We will update this article if Rockstar answers any of these.
The Bottom Line on the GTA 6 Vice City Collection
The GTA 6 Vice City Collection is a branded, limited merchandise box with real Oakley and New Era pieces, shipping November 19 for $399.99 plus shipping. It is not a game edition, and it changes nothing about the Standard or Ultimate versions of GTA 6. If you want it, order from Rockstar's own store; if you do not, you are missing no in-game content.
