The GTA 6 Miami Heat crossover is official: on November 18, the NBA team will play as “Vice City” at Kaseya Center, one night before Rockstar’s game launches. The Heat announced “A Night in Vice City” on October 2, with a custom court, a never-before-seen uniform and a national ESPN broadcast. With 47 days left on our GTA 6 countdown timer, it is the first time Rockstar’s marketing has put the game’s setting inside a professional sports league.
What the Heat and Rockstar Announced
According to the Heat’s announcement, the team will “trade Miami for Vice City” for a single home game against the Bucks. Three things are confirmed so far:
- A special court. The Heat describe it as “special hardwood built for Vice City.” A teaser image has been shown, but the full design has not.
- An all-new uniform. The team says it is a completely reimagined version of its Vice alternate look. Only a blacked-out silhouette has been shared.
- Game-night programming. The Heat promise “special game night activities” and “unique activations” inside the arena, with details to follow.
The team says more information will be published in the coming weeks, in coordination with Rockstar Games, at HEAT.com/ViceCity.
How the GTA 6 Miami Heat Partnership Started
The rollout began on October 1, when a lit “Welcome to Vice City” sign appeared on the roof of Kaseya Center. GameSpot reported that the signage was airlifted into place by helicopter. The full announcement, including the game date, followed on October 2 through the Heat’s social channels and website.
The framing matters. The Heat call it a “first-of-its-kind sports crossover,” and the team is not simply wearing a logo patch. It is changing its on-court identity for a night, in the city the game’s Vice City is based on.
Merchandise is already on sale
Unlike the court and jersey, the clothing is available now. The Heat launched a Vice City collection through their Court Culture line at Miami Heat Store locations and at MiamiHeatStore.com. GameSpot noted two of the first pieces: a $55 “Went to Vice City and all I got was this lousy t-shirt” tee and a $45 “I love Vice City” shirt. One outlet reports the collection runs to 14 items between $45 and $110; we have not been able to confirm that count with the team.
Tickets and How to Watch
Tickets for the game are on sale through the Heat’s ticketing page, and the matchup is listed on Ticketmaster. For anyone not in Miami, ESPN will carry the game nationally. Tip-off is at 7 PM ET, which makes it a pre-launch evening event rather than a launch-day one.
If you are planning around release night, our GTA 6 release times guide covers when the game unlocks in each region, and our pre-order guide explains the Standard and Ultimate editions.
Why This Crossover Is Different
Rockstar’s run-up to launch has so far leaned on its own channels and big media partners: the Netflix Extended Look, limited-edition DualSense controllers, a soundtrack album and a collector’s box. This is the first announced tie-in that puts the game’s setting inside a live sports broadcast.
It also comes with a Miami backdrop that fans have followed for weeks. As we reported in our coverage of the Miami-Dade Vice City marketing backlash, county officials were weighing airport and transit branding in September. SportsLogos.Net now reports that the county entered a roughly $1 million marketing deal that includes signage at Miami International Airport and manhole covers. We have not independently verified those terms, and the Heat event is a separate, team-level partnership.
Where Nov. 18 Fits in Launch Week
The Heat game lands in a crowded stretch. Here is how the confirmed dates line up:
- November 12: pre-load begins, as covered in our pre-load date report.
- November 18, 7 PM ET: A Night in Vice City at Kaseya Center, live on ESPN.
- November 19: GTA 6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
That puts the broadcast in front of a large sports audience in the final hours before launch, which is presumably the point of the timing. Neither Rockstar nor the Heat has published viewership targets, and we are not going to guess at one.
What Is Still Unconfirmed
The announcements leave several questions open, and it is better to list them than to guess:
- What the court and the uniform actually look like. Both are described as “never-before-seen” and have not been revealed.
- Whether replica jerseys will be sold. The Heat have not said, and neither team nor Rockstar has said whether the court or uniform will appear anywhere after November 18.
- What the game-night activations are, and whether any fan giveaways are planned.
- Whether the event connects to anything inside GTA 6 itself. No in-game tie-in has been announced by Rockstar or the Heat, and any claim of one is speculation at this stage.
- How much Rockstar and Take-Two are involved beyond the partnership. At the time of writing, the details we found came from the Heat’s own announcement and coverage of it.
What Happens Next
The Heat have committed to sharing more details over the coming weeks, so the jersey and court reveals are the next things to watch. We will update this article when they arrive. Rockstar has also said more apparel and collectibles are on the way through its own store; our report on the GTA 6 Vice City Collection covers the first of those, and our Rockstar news section tracks each new announcement as it lands.
The Bottom Line on the GTA 6 Miami Heat Event
The GTA 6 Miami Heat partnership is a real, confirmed event with a date, a venue, a broadcast and a merchandise line already live. It is also, for now, a marketing event: nothing announced so far changes the game, its price or its November 19 release date. The pieces worth waiting for are the court and the uniform, both due to be revealed before tip-off on November 18.
